In Memory Lane, players draw cards that prompt them to share specific memories from their past. Each player shares their story with the group, and the other players try to guess details from the storyteller's memory to earn points. The family with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Variations

Reverse Memory Lane: In this version of the game, players are given a list of random items and must create a memory based on those items. For example, if the list includes "umbrella, ice cream, and roller skates," players must come up with a memory that involves all three items.

Guess the Decade: Players take turns sharing memories from a specific decade (e.g. 1980s) and the other players must guess which decade the memory is from.

Family Tree Memory Lane: In this version of the game, players must share memories of their relatives or ancestors. This is a great way to learn more about family history and connect with each other through shared stories.

Pop Culture Memory Lane: Players share memories of their favorite TV shows, movies, or music from their childhood or teenage years. This is a fun way to bond over shared cultural experiences.

Cultural Memory Lane: Players share memories related to their cultural background or traditions. This is a great way to learn more about each other's heritage and connect over shared experiences.

Travel Memory Lane: In this version, players share memories from their travels, such as their favorite destination, a funny story from a trip, or a memorable cultural experience. This is a great way to inspire wanderlust and learn more about the world.

GAME RULES

Number of Players: 2 or more, best played with a larger group

Objective: The objective of the game is to share personal memories with one another and create a journey down memory lane.

Materials:

A large piece of paper or poster board
Markers, pens or pencils
Sticky notes
Timer (optional)
Gameplay:

Each player is given a certain number of sticky notes (around 10-15 is a good starting point).
Players take turns sharing a personal memory with the group, which can be from any time in their life. The memory can be silly, embarrassing, heartwarming, or anything in between.
Once the memory has been shared, the player writes a short summary of the memory on a sticky note and places it on the large piece of paper or poster board in chronological order.
The next player then shares their memory and adds their sticky note to the timeline.
Play continues until each player has shared all of their memories or until a predetermined amount of time has passed.
Once all the memories have been shared, the group can take a moment to look back on the memories they have shared and reminisce together.

Setup

GAME SETUP

To set up the Memory Lane game, you will need:

A deck of Memory Lane cards with prompts for specific memories
Pens and paper for each player
A timer or watch to keep track of turns
A scoreboard to keep track of points
To start the game, each player draws a card and reads the prompt. They then have a set amount of time, such as 2 minutes, to share a memory related to that prompt. The other players can ask questions and try to guess details from the memory to earn points. After everyone has had a turn, the family with the most points at the end of the game wins.
