Party Invitation Ideas
Your invitation is the first chance to make guests feel like something strange is happening in Hawkins.
Hawkins Lab Confidential File: Put the invitation inside a manila folder stamped CONFIDENTIAL or RESTRICTED ACCESS. Include a fake laboratory report, map, photograph, or handwritten note.
Missing Person Flyer: Design the invitation as a vintage missing-person poster. Put the party details in the description and add a warning about unexplained disappearances.
Christmas Light Message: Photograph a wall covered in Christmas lights with letters beneath them. Spell out YOU'RE INVITED or RUN and add the party details below.

Decorating Ideas
There is SO much you can do with this theme, and you don't need an enormous decorating budget to make it recognizable.
1. Create the Christmas Light Wall
This is probably the most recognizable decoration you can create. Hang strings of multicolored Christmas lights against a wall and place alphabet letters beneath them. Spell out a message such as: RUN. HELP ME. THEY ARE HERE. WELCOME TO HAWKINS, or leave the entire alphabet visible and change the message throughout the night.
2. Build an Upside Down Entrance
Transform a hallway or doorway into the transition between Hawkins and the Upside Down. Cover the walls and ceiling with black vines, dark fabric, branches, moss, cobweb material, and red lighting. Guests should physically walk through the transition to enter the party.
3. Cover Everything in Vines
Black vines are one of the easiest ways to make an ordinary room feel infected by the Upside Down.
Twist black rope, tubing, yarn, or painted pool noodles around doors, furniture, stair rails, lamps, windows, and ceilings. Mix in thinner branching vines so they appear to be spreading.
4. Use Red Lighting
Red light instantly changes a normal room. Place red bulbs or LED lights behind furniture, beneath tables, along hallways, and near vines. You don't need the entire house glowing red. Concentrate it in your Upside Down areas.
5. Add Floating Upside Down Particles
Hang tiny pieces of lightweight white material, fibers, or artificial snow from nearly invisible fishing line. Use a small fan on its lowest setting to create subtle movement. The goal isn't a snowstorm. You want guests wondering whether something just floated past them.
6. Create Hawkins National Laboratory
Turn a hallway, office, basement, or spare room into a laboratory.
Add: AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLY, BIOHAZARD, RESTRICTED AREA, HAWKINS NATIONAL LABORATORY. Use clipboards, specimen containers, white coats, old electronics, warning tape, folders, and numbered doors.
7. Add a Grandfather Clock
A grandfather clock immediately creates a Vecna-inspired focal point. If you don't own one, create a cardboard silhouette or print a large image and mount it to foam board. Place it at the end of a dark hallway with red lighting. Add vines creeping toward it.
8. Create a Hawkins Living Room
Use brown, orange, mustard, avocado green, plaid, and wood tones. Add an old telephone, board games, magazines, lamps, crocheted blankets, Christmas lights, and family photos. It doesn't have to be historically perfect. It just needs to feel unmistakably 1980s.
9. Make a Monster Wall
Create silhouettes or cutouts inspired by Demogorgons and creatures from the Upside Down.
Don't necessarily place them directly in the middle of the room. Put one partially hidden behind a curtain. Another outside a window. One at the end of a hallway. Things are creepier when guests notice them on their own.
10. Build an Evidence Board
Cover a corkboard with maps, photographs, newspaper articles, laboratory documents, handwritten notes, drawings, and red string. Add photographs of your actual guests. Now suddenly they're part of the investigation.
11. Create a Portal
Build a large opening surrounded by vines and red light. Use black fabric in the center and layer translucent material over it. Place a fan behind thin fabric so the surface subtly moves. For an inexpensive version, create the portal around an existing doorway.
12. Add Bikes
If you have old bicycles, use them as decorations outside your entrance or along a wall. Add backpacks, flashlights, and walkie-talkies nearby.
13. Use Walkie-Talkies Throughout the Party
Leave actual or toy walkie-talkies around the house as props. If you have functioning ones, even better.
Hosts or helpers can occasionally send mysterious messages through them during the party.

Players roll a twenty-sided die and attempt to hit predetermined numbers. Make certain numbers worth points and designate a natural 20 as an automatic win.
3. Christmas Light Code
Create a coded message using colored Christmas lights. Give players a key showing which colors represent which letters or numbers. First person or team to decode the message wins.
4. Walkie-Talkie Telephone
Separate teams into different rooms. One player receives a complicated message and must transmit it over a walkie-talkie. The final person writes down what they heard. Compare it to the original.
It will almost certainly be wrong.

9. The Sensory Tank
Blindfold players and have them identify strange objects using touch alone. Try gelatin, peeled grapes, cooked spaghetti, slime, feathers, cold water beads, faux fur, or rubber creatures.
10. Defeat the Monster
Create a large monster target with several openings worth different point values. Players throw tennis balls, beanbags, or rolled socks into the openings. Give the hardest target the highest points.
